Peter Ungar trained at the Architectural Association and Cambridge University. After graduation he worked for Michael Hopkins and Partners on Glyndebourne Opera House and later at Jamie Fobert Architects on a range of schemes including, the extension of the Tate St. Ives, Kettles Yard Gallery, Cambridge and a 15,000 sq ft residence overlooking Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Peter set up Ungar Architects in 2006 with a commission for a small house in Los Angeles, and since then, the practice has completed a range of mainly residential projects in North London, chiefly in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Hampstead and Belsize Park.

Peter’s work and training have brought him to the view that architecture is a team process where mutual respect, fairness and flexibility are key. He believes that the quality of design is of equal importance to attentiveness, clear communication and respect, which has resulted in the practice gaining many new projects through the referrals of their clients.
